Lars Wolter German | born 1969
Lars Wolter lives and works in Mönchengladbach, Germany. He served an apprenticeship as a cabinet-maker before studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from where he graduated in 2001. Wolter’s sculptural works are informed by minimalism and geometrical abstraction but equally also engage with the worlds of contemporary fashion and design.
Wolter has had seven solo exhibitions at Rocket including Sportiv (2002); Horizontals, verticals & vans (2004); Drilled (2007); Cutoff (2009); Cross | Over (2012); Framed (2015); and Triangulation (2018). International solo exhibitions include The Suburban, Chicago (2008); Konsortium, Dusseldorf (2010); Kunstverein Mönchen-gladbach (2012); The Poor Farm, Wisconsin (2013); Adhoc, Bochum (2020); Off Hook, Groningen (2021).
In 2007 the Daimler Art Collection, Germany acquired the wall sculpture Offcut by Lars Wolter; and in 2010
a group of fifteen paperworks were added to the permanent collection. In 2017 Brown Rudnick, London commissioned a major installation of nine wall sculptures.
